Prairie Players Learn New Yorkese
The Citadel Theatre's Dialect Coach Pays a Visit
In October of 2014, Doug Mertz, the Director of Education and Outreach for the renown Citadel Theatre in Edmonton, led the Calmar Prairie Players in a dialect workshop. He had been brought in to teach the group how to speak with New York and English accents in preparation for their November performance of the play "A Little Dickens On the Air". The group's staff writer produced a humour piece for the regional newspaper, The Pipestone Flyer which can be enjoyed here.
